Solar Tax Deduction of 200,000 THB: How to Claim It
Eligibility conditions and the e-Tax invoice you need.
A government measure allows people who install solar on their residential home to deduct the cost from their personal income tax, up to 200,000 THB, under conditions set by the Revenue Department. This article summarises what you need to prepare to claim it.
Which installations qualify
This deduction applies to solar systems installed on residential homes. Claimant eligibility, the installation period that counts, and other conditions follow the Revenue Department’s latest announcement. Check the announcement before deciding to install.
Documents required
- An electronic tax invoice (e-Tax Invoice) in the claimant’s name, used as evidence for the deduction. The company can issue it.
- The name, taxpayer identification number and address on the tax invoice must match the claimant.
- Keep the contract and payment records as supporting documents.
How to claim
- Give the claimant’s name when requesting a quotation.
- Check that the details on the e-Tax invoice are correct when you receive it.
- Enter the deduction when filing your income tax return for the tax year specified by the measure.
- Keep the documents in case the Revenue Department asks to inspect them.
Points to watch
- The name on the tax invoice must be the person claiming the deduction. If it does not match, you may not be able to claim.
- The deduction reduces the net income used to calculate tax; it is not a full cash refund. The actual benefit depends on each person’s tax rate.
- Install within the period set by the measure.
